"So, reading over you post about digital rangefinders, I think the X-Pro is the way I want to go, looking at prices, yours and others photography, is great. I really want to see what I can do with it. And It sounds like I can get a lot more for my money from fuji then leica. How would you start out? Thanks - James"

Hey James! Well it’s cheaper than ever with the release of the M10, to get into a digital RF system. There’s now half a dozen + Leica Rangefinder that aren’t considered the new big thing. Even the M9-Monochrome has come down a little in price. So I’d head to you local store that carries both Leica and Fuji and give them both a shot. See what feels good to you. If you have the cash for a NIB X-Pro 2, then you’re not far away from a used M9. Heck if you don’t care about it being APSC you could get a M8 around the same price.

There’s nothing like a Leica, don’t let any hater tell you otherwise. The Fuji is fantastic, but it isn’t the same. Try them both, even if it means you have to rent them. Or find a Leica store and go in and they’ll let you test them out right there, even walk you through the details. If you have decent credit there’s financing through some retailers. If you’re in the Columbus area you can check out World of Photography and ask for Gary or Tammy, they’ll be happy to take some cameras out and let you get your hands on them!

If you’re on a serious budget and just a one lens shooter, something like the X-100 may be to your liking.

Good luck on you search James!

From the very roll of film I ever shot.

The TJ ‘98 Sahara. I’d had 2 other Jeeps before this, and although it was a problem child this ride made me a Wrangler man. It showed me that although my body is damaged and broken, I can still seek adventure through another means. Behind the wheel of a Jeep.

Don’t have a lot of details to share yet, but pleased to share with you my portrait of Kentucky living legend Jimmy Russell of @wildturkey will be featured in the upcoming documentary entitled “Neat” - you can find the trailer for the film on @vimeo, which will be seeing a limited release next year, by googling the film. I’ll be sure to update as I get more news. I’ve spoken with one of the crew and it’s sounds (and looks) like it’ll be a really cool documentary on the salvation of Kentucky bourbon.

Front end build almost complete.

Found what I thought was an old utilities access road today, turned out not to be the case. But it was thick brush, strap grades, big rocks and loose rock. So still a good time.
