"So, reading over you post about digital rangefinders, I think the X-Pro is the way I want to go, looking at prices, yours and others photography, is great. I really want to see what I can do with it. And It sounds like I can get a lot more for my money from fuji then leica. How would you start out? Thanks - James"

Hey James! Well it’s cheaper than ever with the release of the M10, to get into a digital RF system. There’s now half a dozen + Leica Rangefinder that aren’t considered the new big thing. Even the M9-Monochrome has come down a little in price. So I’d head to you local store that carries both Leica and Fuji and give them both a shot. See what feels good to you. If you have the cash for a NIB X-Pro 2, then you’re not far away from a used M9. Heck if you don’t care about it being APSC you could get a M8 around the same price.

There’s nothing like a Leica, don’t let any hater tell you otherwise. The Fuji is fantastic, but it isn’t the same. Try them both, even if it means you have to rent them. Or find a Leica store and go in and they’ll let you test them out right there, even walk you through the details. If you have decent credit there’s financing through some retailers. If you’re in the Columbus area you can check out World of Photography and ask for Gary or Tammy, they’ll be happy to take some cameras out and let you get your hands on them!

If you’re on a serious budget and just a one lens shooter, something like the X-100 may be to your liking.

Good luck on you search James!
